About

Almost 20 years ago I became a journalist out of a desire to be a voice for the voiceless. Through that experience, I became aware of the demand for freelance writers.

Whether it’s writing in advocacy of the individual, or content for business, it boils down to the same thing – helping to get a very specific message out to the public.

As an idea person, I take great joy in being able to expand a vision through words. Transforming even the driest and dullest of topics into something that sings, is a fabulous feeling. Lyrics from the old Mary Tyler Moore show come to mind: “…she can take a nothing date and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile.”

That’s a good description of anyone with the desire to find the best in all situations, in others and in themselves. Given that we all get only one go-round on this planet, I try to put my heart into everything I do. This also implies maintaining a curiosity about all things.

Having developed my writing chops on feature stories for The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and National Post, I’ve since taken training in writing business content through AWAI (American Writers and Artists International). I’m also a proud member of the Professional Writers Alliance.

With an openness to things that are life-giving, several opportunities for writing have come my way. When not writing with a communication strategy in mind, I’ve had the opportunity to write for the small stage and the big screen. Much of that writing has been fed by personal experience stretching from the nether regions in East Africa to the deep wilderness of the Yukon.
